Spitak State College-Vocational Education in Practice

The regional disparity in Armenia is quite evident and is well documented. While the capital of Yerevan is well advanced, the same is not true of the regions and especially the far-flange regions. It is very difficult for both teachers and students in the backward regions to get information on the latest technological developments with the respect to their subjects and specialties. In the majority of today’s VET schools, the tools and materials available to teachers for the teaching process are archaic and obsolete.

To address underequipped problem of the regional remote VET schools, UNDP VET Project adds to the list of its direct beneficiaries Spitak State College by granting the College with modern auto-driving simulators. Spitak State College located in Lori marz, obtained a unique chance to conduct practical classes gaining productive and engaging learning experience for both students and teachers. Practice is an important component of any study circle. By experiencing short simulations or small game-based learning interventions, students will be able to practice or get assessed during the study cycle.

Spitak State College was founded in 1994 and has more than 6 teaching specialties including Transport Organization and Vehicle Management. Auto-driving simulators of Italian origin with corresponding software and supplementary tools along with existing computer lab will enable learners practice and watch how vehicle engine works and car operates.

This is a unique opportunity for the College to become one of the attractive VET institutions in the region and deliver up-to-date vocational education classes not only to the College students, but also to adults through running of short-term retraining courses.

Apart of enrichment of the College facilities with the modern technical lab, the UNDP VET Project fully involves the College management and faculty in numerous capacity development activities introducing modern educational technologies, methodological basics and international know-how transfer in the field of vocational education and training.
