“Welcome to Hrazdan State College, a harbor of qualified education and advanced skills.” This is how next year the college will attract its students.

Hrazdan State College located in Kotayk marz of Armenia has potential to become one of those institutions that provide the best of the knowledge and proficiency. The college now practices such specialties as primary school teaching, auditing and accounting, software development, design, gasification, and others, as well as combines methodology and practice, trying to put an accent on the practical side of each specialty.

With the total territory of 3600 square meters, the college has about 400 students who come here to specialize in organization of service in hotels and tourism complexes, technical maintenance of thermoelectric power stations, automobile repair and many others.

The college is a four storey building with large auditoriums and practical classes, where the students can find any leeway of practicing and discovering.

UNDP “Support the Modernization of Vocational Education and Training (VET) System” Project has a great contribution to the development and prosperity of the college. Striving to equip with qualified labor force tourism sector in Armenia, as one of the key priorities for the country’s development, the UNDP VET Project went ahead of the time and embarked on widening and developing the specialties highly demanded in domestic tourism, namely business hospitality and public catering. Being a tourism zone, the region of Kotayk needs highly qualified specialists in the above-mentioned spheres. In this regard, in the framework of its activities, the UNDP VET Project has developed the Competency-based qualification standards for preliminary and middle professional education to pilot them at Hrazdan State College.

In light of the College upgrade, a great deal of assistance was provided by the UNDP VET Project in terms of educational furniture and computer equipment, capital renovation of basic infrastructure including roof repair and building of 6 toilets.

According to the College Principal, the warm atmosphere and friendly environment of the college attract many young people and even young specialists who strive to improve their skills especially in tourism sector.
